Ceramics Program Manager and Instructor
Tristyn Bustamante achieved an MFA in ceramics from Arizona State University in 2013. She has attended residencies and given lectures in places such as Clayarch Gimhae Museum in South Korea, The Armory Art Center in Florida, and New Harmony Clay Project in Indiana. Her work involves the use of clay and other materials to produce carefully planned yet intuitively designed sculptural objects. Tristyn’s current research has focused on investigating recent or emerging technologies and human/ animal perception so to imagine the distant future. Each form is unique and built using a combination of methods. Such methods include wheel-based, hand-built, and slip-cast approaches.
Tristyn has exhibited regionally and nationally, as well as in a few locations abroad. As a community and education advocate, she has pursued teaching, learning, and involvement in local communities whenever she can. Tristyn has worked as an instructor of art for a range of ages and skill sets at different institutions. Much of her varied experience has been in the role of an art educator teaching primarily ceramics, design foundations, and sculpture.
Tristyn is appreciative to have had the support of family, friends, and art enthusiasts throughout these endeavors, most significantly her immediate family.
