Instructor
Mike Costa fell in love with drawing and nature when he grew up in the woods and beaches of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He graduated from the School of Visual Arts at Syracuse University with degrees in illustration and creative writing, and went on to work with illustrator Al Lorenz and Marvel Comics in New York City. There he found a love for traditional Pen and Ink and applications of digital color. He's since done freelance illustration for HarperCollins, Universal Pictures, SONY Pictures, as well as various independent publications, and later transitioned into the creative world of storytelling through television production.
Mike produces a variety of print and digital media and recently published his first book called "Animals Are Everywhere", which was awarded a gold Moonbeam award for best counting book. In it, he uses his imaginative vision and style to bring whimsical characters and lush environments to life in an engaging seek and find book for children.
Mike is passionate about learning and the creative process. He loves connecting with people to help them discover and share their creative identity through artistic expression. He currently lives in the mountains of Utah with his talented pro-ballroom dancing wife and 5 amazing children Ammon, Enoch, Naomi, Sam, and Emma.
