Lana G.
Lana was a student at the Visual Art institute from age 15 - 17. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Utah, where she studied drawing, painting and a variety of other creative subjects. When asked about her experience as a student at VAI, Lana said:
“I benefited not only from the formal training and skill-building, but also the intensity of the figure academy. I had such an advantage working in college and putting the time in because I had already built that muscle in my 8+ hour days, 5-days a week of making and critiquing art.”
Lana has lived all over the USA. She taught high school art in Washington DC, taught art classes at a fine arts atelier in LA, and has taught several classes here at VAI. She currently works on highly detailed colored pencil pieces and said she was originally drawn to this medium because she was living in small apartments with young children and oil paint is not child-friendly. Lana is currently teaching online courses to show artists all over the world how to use this amazing medium and how to create fine art regardless of their schedule, artistic background or living situation.
