Jan V.

Jan studied as a high school student at the Visual Art Institute. He was the 2008 Visual Arts Sterling Scholar winner in Utah, entering from West High School. He received a full-tuition scholarship and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture at The Cooper Union in NYC, later earning a Master’s Degree at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He started working as a Real Estate Development Associate in Washington D.C. in 2021. When asked about his time as a student at VAI, Jan said:

“I think that it set me up to know how to study a creative subject in a disciplined way. But also, before then, to play, and to just figure out what I’m capable of creating.”

Jan taught kids and teens art classes at VAI for a number of years. He has made it a priority to generously give back to VAI through fundraising, donations, and volunteer hours. He wants more children to have the formative experiences and opportunities he had as a student at VAI.
